The Roots of A to Z

"Driscoll reveals new atrium" 
Nikki Hoff, special education teacher, far left, sat with her students and other teachers at the new atrium at Driscoll Elementary School. A ceremony was held on September 22 to celebrate and reveal the atrium. Kyle Webb of A - Z landscaping, not pictured, took a personal interest in the project and offered his expertise and services free of charge. They, along with Linda Leedy, speech pathologist teacher, then developed a plan for renovating the atrium into a useable learning space for students. Hoff and her class began by digging up existing bulbs and incorporating learning lessons. They also planted new plants, cared and watered the plants, prepared the ground for various seasons, and made observations of changes that occurred. Other volunteers then did the work that the students couldn't' A list of donors include: A - Z landscaping, Driscoll PTO, Snyder Brick and Block, Ernst Concrete, Key Sports and Business Promotions and Centerville City Schools.

"A to Z receives safety award"
A to Z Lawn and Landscaping, Inc. Has announced that it was recently awarded an Overall Safety Achievement Award from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) at the recent Green Industry Conference awards banquet in Columbus. The award, a part of PLANETS annual Safety Recognition Awards Program, and sponsored by CNA and Ariens/Gravely/Stens, honors those companies with thorough, high - performing safety programs that create and maintain safe work environments in the green industry. It is designed to reward green industry professionals who consistently demonstrate their commitment to safety. A to Z was evaluated on number of accidents, number of days that employees were away from work, and number of employee injuries and illnesses. Additionally, a checklist was used to rate to the company's complete safety program. "Safe work environments show our employees and clients that we care. We will continue to promote safe work habits by our employees on a daily basis because we recognize the importance of safety in the workplace," said Kyle Webb CLP, president of A to Z Lawn, Inc.

"Landscaper achieves certification"
Kele Webb of A to Z Lawn and Landscaping Inc. in Centerville is now a Certified Landscape Professional, or CLP.  Less than one percent of all landscape contractors in America have achieved this prestigious distinction.  The CLP accreditation is the newest of many certifications that Webb and the employees of A to Z have achieved.  Other certifications include, Toro Intellisense Installation certification and Certified OLCA membership.  Webb is also the owner and President of A to Z Lawn and Landscaping Inc.  After Graduating from Centerville High School and college, Webb started A to Z in 1989.  Since then, A to Z has grown into a large maintenance, mulch retail and landscape design and build company.  Every year, Webb and his staff strive to grow value for their customers.  For more information about A to Z Lawn and Landscaping Inc., contact the business at 885-9688.

Brian R. Copley, CLP, recently passed the Professional Landcare Network's Certified Landscape Professional exam.  The four-hour exam, which covered all aspects of working in the landscape industry, is divided into seven sections covering sales and marketing, strategic planning; leadership and corporate citizenship; human resources; risk, law and contracts; corporate financial management; and production operations/horticulture.
